So, to ensure a fulfilling visit, it's recommended to check the estimated time beforehand and have a fantastic time exploring teamLab Planets.

TeamLab Planets Toyosu - The Estimated Time

Let's dive right in and discuss the time it takes based on the author's personal experience and reviews from social media.

We'll divide it into two categories: 'Overall Average' and 'Area-specific'

If the 'Area-specific' section is long, feel free to skip ahead after reading the initial summary.

The overall estimated time at teamLab Toyosu is between 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

The overall estimated time at teamLab Toyosu is between 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

Although many websites state 1.5 to 2 hours, since the expansion and renewal in 2021, with the addition of new artworks, restaurants, and shops, it seems to take a little longer now.

Area-specific Estimated Time and Highlights at teamLab Toyosu

Now let's go through the estimated time for each area.

Planning your schedule in advance, considering which artworks you want to spend more time on or skip, will help you avoid feeling rushed towards the end.

⓪ Entry (Waiting in line - Entry video - Locker preparation) [20-30 minutes]

While the tickets for teamLab Planets are specified in 30-minute intervals, you won't be able to enter immediately at the designated time.

First, you'll wait at the entrance together with other visitors assigned to the same time slot (unless it's not crowded, in which case you can enter right away).

After entry, you'll receive instructions through a video presentation, remove your shoes and socks, and proceed to the locker room.

Since some of the artworks at teamLab Planets involve enjoying the experience with water up to your knees, everyone enters barefoot from the entrance.

You'll need some time for preparation, such as storing all your belongings (except for your mobile phone) in the locker room (note: restrooms are only available here within the venue)."

①Waterfall of Light Particles at the Top of an Incline《5min.》

The first artwork you encounter, which is located in a dark space.

Only the path, bridges, and waterfall are illuminated, creating a truly fantastical scene.

Since it's situated along the pathway, the time spent here is relatively short as you pass by.

②Soft Black Hole - Your Body Becomes a Space that Influences Another Body《5~10min.》

This is a dark room covered with cushions that give you a sinking sensation.

In this artwork, you can walk or lie down, experiencing the sensation of 'sinking' while feeling the gravity.

If you simply pass through, it takes about 5 minutes, though many people can't help but scream while going through it.

When I visited, I enjoyed passing through, but I noticed others leisurely gazing up at the sky or playing with their children, so some people likely stayed for 20 minutes or more.

③The Infinite Crystal Universe《5~10min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

This is a popular artwork often seen on social media, consisting of countless particles of light arranged in a sequence, allowing you to experience depth and three-dimensionality.

Using 'teamLab App,' you can select different light patterns and swipe towards the artwork, causing it to change in response to the chosen pattern.

It's recommended to spend around 15 minutes to fully appreciate it.

Even if you're only taking videos or photos, it may take 10 to 15 minutes due to the need to avoid other people in the background.

④Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and People - Infinity《10~15min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

This artwork allows you to immerse yourself in water and enjoy the experience.

When you enter the water, which reaches about knee-height, the reflections of koi fish and lights create a mesmerizing display where they transform into blossoms when touched by people.

It's a topic of conversation due to the ephemeral nature of the visuals.

Interestingly, this artwork is not pre-recorded but generated in real-time through computer programming, so the imagery that unfolds at your feet and beneath your gaze is truly unique.

While it's captivating to engage with the artwork, it's worth noting that the water is moderately deep, making movement somewhat difficult.

So, plan for a longer stay of around 10 to 15 minutes.

⑤Universe of Fire Particles《0min.(included in ④)》

This artwork actually quietly exists in a corner of the room featuring ④ "Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and People - Infinity".

Make sure not to miss it!

⑥Expanding Three-Dimensional Existence in Transforming Space《10〜15min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

This artwork allows you to play with large floating spheres throughout the room.

Generally, at "teamLab Planets," visitors are not allowed to touch the artwork. But with this particular piece, you are free to touch, push, and even bounce the spheres.

When the spheres collide with each other, their colors change due to the impact.

As the colors change, the overall atmosphere of the room transforms, creating a completely different ambiance every time you take a photo or record a video.

If you're interested in capturing photos with different color combinations that stand out, it's recommended to allocate a longer amount of time for your visit.

⑦Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers《5~10min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

This artwork provides a unique immersive experience where you become absorbed in the projected images throughout the entire room.

In the pitch-black space, you'll find yourself instinctively following the vibrant flowers as they bloom and scatter one after another.

If you enjoy it, you can lie down and watch in a state of meditation.

However, since it's an environment surrounded by large-scale visual beauty, the maximum recommended viewing time is about 10 minutes.

⑧Floating Flower Garden《10~15min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

A stunning arrangement of over 13,000 living orchids hangs from the ceiling, creating a truly fantastical atmosphere.

The floor is covered in mirrors, providing a luxurious space surrounded by flowers in every direction.

Interestingly, as people approach, the flowers slowly rise upward, and as people move away, they descend back into the space.

By staying in one spot, you can immerse yourself in a world of flowers, feeling as though you have become one with the floral surroundings.

Even during peak hours, this area is relatively free from obstructive backgrounds, making it easy to take beautiful photos.

Additionally, the area is illuminated by natural light, making it a prime spot for capturing lovely photos with just a smartphone.

Keep in mind that there may be time restrictions, so it may not be possible to stay for an extended period (although it seems you can exit once the time limit is reached and re-enter afterward).

⑨Moss Garden of Resonating Microcosms《10~15min.》

source:TeamLab Planets official

In a moss garden, scattered throughout, you'll find artificial and futuristic Ovoid sculptures.

When these egg-shaped objects are pushed or influenced by the wind, they emit beautiful sounds and radiate light.

The experience of the light varies significantly between daytime and nighttime.

TeamLab Planets Toyosu - Congestion Status and Recommended Time Slots

Next, I investigated the current congestion situation as of 2024 and the recommended time to visit, and I would like to share the findings with you.

TeamLab Planets Toyosu - "Record High Visits by Foreign Tourists, Becoming a Tourist Mecca!"

Many people leaving comments on social media saying, "It's been crowded lately!" seem to notice the increasing number of foreign tourists.

The author also recently visited the vicinity of the venue and saw a large number of foreign visitors arriving on tour buses.

It's no wonder because in 2023, the number of foreign visitors surpassed 170,000, setting a new record for monthly foreign tourist arrivals.

Astonishingly, it is said that one out of every ten foreign visitors to Japan is visiting TeamLab Planets.

It has become one of Japan's popular tourist attractions, and with the increasing volume of foreign tourists visiting since the ease of entry, the crowds are expected to continue to grow.

TeamLab Planets Toyosu - Peak Crowded Times: "Morning to Early Afternoon"

The ticket availability remains relatively consistent, whether it's on weekdays or weekends, and tickets are still available even on weekends.

However, both weekdays and weekends tend to sell out starting from the "morning to around early afternoon” time slots.

If you prefer to visit in those time, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

The ticket purchase screen on the official website displays the remaining number of tickets, so by considering that information, you can plan your visit during relatively less crowded time slots.

TeamLab Planets Toyosu Recommendation: "Late Afternoon and Beyond"

If you want to leisurely enjoy "teamLab Planets," the recommended time is in the evening or later.

Apart from the congestion situation, some artworks create completely different impressions during the day and night.

Particularly noteworthy are the orchids and the area with ovoid sculptures, which become even more fantastical in the evening.

The orchids, especially during the summer, emit a more intense fragrance at night, offering a heightened sensory experience.

Moreover, the ovoid sculptures display a mysterious and vibrant color palette at night, unlike during the day, adding a sense of exclusivity.

On Fridays and the day before weekends or holidays, the venue is open until 8:00 PM, so it might be a good idea to visit after having dinner.
