The "teamLab Planets TOKYO" in Toyosu has become one of Japan's most iconic tourist destinations.
If you are visiting teamLab Planets while traveling around Tokyo, one practical question matters before you arrive: what should you do with your bag, suitcase or stroller?
Do you need a station locker? Can you arrive with a suitcase? What happens to your bag once you move from the Water Area into the newer parts of the museum? I visited after the expansion in spring 2026, so this guide explains the current setup from a visitor's point of view.
The short answer: free lockers are available, but they are small. Oversized luggage and strollers use a separate wire-lock storage area. And because the expanded museum does not work exactly the same way in every area, I recommend bringing a small bag you can comfortably carry once you leave the Water Area.

What happens to your bag inside?
You do not need to leave every belonging behind for the entire experience. When I visited in spring 2026, I used the free lockers for the Water Area, where shoes are removed and the artworks are experienced barefoot.
In the Forest Area and the newer expanded areas, however, I wore my shoes and carried my belongings with me. A small, easy-to-carry bag is therefore much more practical than a bulky one.
This distinction is important because older guides can make it sound as though all bags stay in a locker for the whole visit. That was not how the expanded museum worked during my 2026 visit.
Where Can You Store Your Luggage?
So, where should you store your luggage? Here’s a detailed explanation based on personal visits.
Free Lockers Available
Free lockers are available. The current official guidance lists each locker as 23 cm wide × 34 cm deep × 37 cm high. On my spring 2026 visit, I used the lockers for my shoes and belongings before experiencing the Water Area barefoot.
They are free to use, but much smaller than many station coin lockers.

These lockers are more compact than standard coin lockers at stations, so it's best to minimize what you bring.

No Cloakroom
There is no cloakroom for oversized baggage. If your luggage is larger than the locker dimensions, the current official guidance says it should be secured with a wire lock in the stroller-storage area and managed by you.
What About Carry-On Suitcases?
If your suitcase or other baggage is larger than 23 × 34 × 37 cm, it will not fit in the free locker. Current venue guidance says oversized items are secured with a wire lock in the stroller-storage area and remain under the visitor's own management.
So you can arrive with a suitcase, but if you have a choice, leaving very large luggage at your hotel or a station locker will make the visit simpler.
Can You Store Strollers?
Strollers are not allowed inside the museum. A stroller parking area is provided outside, with wire locks available. Baby carriers are allowed inside, so bringing one is useful if you are visiting with a baby or toddler.
What About Umbrellas on Rainy Days?
Because the current lockers are only 37 cm high, I would not plan on storing a full-size umbrella inside one. If you are visiting on a rainy day, follow the storage instructions provided by staff when you arrive.

Finally, here are two things to prepare ahead of time to ensure your trip to teamLab Planets Toyosu goes smoothly and you avoid any last-minute stress at the entrance.
Reserve Tickets in Advance
Tickets are sold online for specific dates and times, and popular slots can fill up. If your Tokyo itinerary is fixed, I recommend booking before the day of your visit.

During busy periods, staff may ask visitors who have spent a long time in an area to continue forward, so allow enough time rather than planning an overly tight schedule.
Check the Dress Code
teamLab Planets features water and mirror-based art installations, so you’ll want to dress accordingly.
Especially for women, it's worth checking ahead for advice on appropriate attire to avoid disappointment or confusion at the entrance.

My main advice is simple: travel light. Use the free locker for the Water Area, avoid bringing a bulky bag if you can, and remember that you will carry your belongings with you in the Forest Area and newer expanded areas.
